Preparation tips from CSS toppers

Start with English - it is the key

Both English Essay and English Precis carry 100 marks each. Strong English is the foundation of CSS success. Most failures happen here.

Prepare for 18–24 months minimum

CSS is Pakistan's hardest exam with less than 3% pass rate. Most successful candidates prepare for 1.5 to 2 years before attempting.

Pass MPT first - do not ignore it

MPT is a qualifying test. You must score 66/200 to sit the main written exam. Many candidates fail at this stage by underestimating it.

Read Dawn daily without fail

Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs together carry 200 marks. Reading Dawn newspaper daily for 1 year is the single best preparation strategy.
