Explanation: Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad is the current Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan. He was appointed on December 30, 2020, by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, succeeding Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, who had held the position for many years. Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad is also the Imam and Khatib of the historic Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, and the son of the renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Abdul Qadir Azad. He most recently presided over the Zilhaj moon sighting on May 17, 2026, confirming Eid al-Azha on May 27, 2026.
